STEM Teaching Fellows
STEM Teaching Fellowship
The STEM Teaching Fellows program prepares Cooper Union students to design and teach a three-week Summer STEM course for 9th and 10th grade high school students from New York City and beyond. The fellowship provides training in the theory and practice of education, leadership, communication, project management, and evaluation.
Each Summer STEM course represents The Cooper Union School of Engineering as well as The Cooper Union mission and incorporates some of the many ways that students work together, challenge themselves, and examine important ideas and problems of the current time. While we do not expect that a single person can teach every concept or skill covered in a Summer STEM course, the Teaching Fellow must be prepared to identify important learning goals and resources needed to facilitate learning for the high school participants. The ideal candidate is creative, empathetic, and eager to explore the intersection of engineering, design and community service.
