Facilities
At the Cooper Union, we have exceptional physical facilities and equipment to support the mission of the college. Within the Albert Nerken School of Engineering, we support over 40 state-of-the-art educational laboratories, research laboratories, and shops covering the spectrum of our disciplines. These facilities and equipment provide critical hands-on experience to support our project-based learning. Highlights of some of our unique facilities and equipment include a biosafety level one facility supporting biomedical and bioengineering projects, a 520 cubic-foot anechoic chamber, Electrospinner, Atomic Force Microscope, Dynamic Light Scattering Device, a Wind Tunnel with LaVision Particle Imaging Velocimetry (PIV) System, a 22,000 lbs. load frame, MTS 810 linear actuator, and a 120,000 lbs. universal testing machine, a Photron High Speed Camera capable of 800,000 fps video, a full modern machine shop with CNC tools, among others.
