Aerial Vehicle Team Places in Top Five for Design
POSTED ON: February 27, 2023
This month, a group of seniors from the Albert Nerken School of Engineering placed in the top five for their Preliminary Design Report in the 2023 Vertical Flight Society’s Design-Build-Vertical Flight (DBVF) competition.
This electric-powered, remote-control, vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) competition seeks to encourage interest in unmanned aircraft technology and small air vehicle design and fabrication. The competition is designed to develop hands-on skills and familiarization with VTOL and advanced air mobility technology.
The Cooper Union Aerial Vehicle Team—which includes mechanical engineering students Alsu Flare, Kameron Wang, Ginger Lau, and Andrew Kim and is advised by David Wotton, professor of mechanical engineering—will next submit their final technical report before preparing their vehicle for the "fly-off" portion of the competition this summer.
