Dean Shay invites Cooper students with a passion for applying their engineering skills for social good to the many challenges in Guatemala. She and Professor Simson are teaming up to bring a group of students to the Barbara Ford Peace Building Center in Quiche to work on a variety of projects. Expand the solar energy work of Joya Debi EE'23 or the biochar work of Seena Seon ChE'23 and Brandon Bunt BSE'22 or explore new projects.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.
