Raviv Ganchrow AR'00

Raviv Ganchrow, AR’00, will be presenting a day-long sound installation at the French pavilion at the Venice biennial this year:

This coming weekend, he will be presenting his installation Lightning Ellipse at the French pavilion in Venice as part of the Radio Utopia series (August 1st to 5th 2023).

Here is a short description of the work:

Felipe Baeza A'09

Starting Aug. 9, Felipe Baeza A'09, whose home base is Brooklyn, will be giving people something to think about during their own public transportation journey, or purgatory as the case may be. As part of a Public Art Fund program designed to reach people where they live or commute, Baeza will have eight of his mixed-media, collagelike paintings reproduced on some 400 JCDecaux bus shelters in New York, Boston and Chicago as well as Querétaro and Léon in Mexico. They will also appear on digital kiosks and newsstands in Mexico City.

Frank Jacobus AR'98

Frank Jacobus AR'98 has been named head of the Department of Architecture in Penn State’s Stuckeman School in the College of Arts and Architecture, effective July 1. An architect, designer, artist and educator, he has spent 16 years in higher education, most recently serving as associate department head in the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design (FJSOAD) at the University of Arkansas. He is recognized by the American Institute of Architects and is currently the principal of SILO Architecture, Research and Design.

Patterning Women

July 11 - 29, 2023

Bowery Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of the recent paintings and oil stick drawings by Barbara Grossman.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
