Cooper Union Athletics

At Cooper Union, we provide students with access to volleyball and co-ed soccer teams year-round. These sports were established in response to student interest and continue to thrive thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of our participants.

Tryouts for each team are held the month before the season starts, allowing ample time for new members to join. We welcome both experienced athletes and those new to the sports, ensuring that everyone can improve and enjoy their experience.

In addition to regular practices and competitions, we host various events and activities to foster a sense of community among team members. Whether you're looking to enhance your skills, make new friends, or simply have fun, there’s a place for you on our teams.

If you're interested in joining, don’t underestimate your abilities! Stop by the Office of Student Affairs to learn more about how you can get involved in our volleyball and soccer programs. We can’t wait to see you on the field or court!

If you would like to make a donation to help support Cooper Union Athletics, you can do so here. All donations directly support our athletics program and scholar athletes.

  • Founded by inventor, industrialist and philanthropist Peter Cooper in 1859, The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art offers education in art, architecture and engineering, as well as courses in the humanities and social sciences.

  • “My feelings, my desires, my hopes, embrace humanity throughout the world,” Peter Cooper proclaimed in a speech in 1853. He looked forward to a time when, “knowledge shall cover the earth as waters cover the great deep.”

  • From its beginnings, Cooper Union was a unique institution, dedicated to founder Peter Cooper's proposition that education is the key not only to personal prosperity but to civic virtue and harmony.

  • Peter Cooper wanted his graduates to acquire the technical mastery and entrepreneurial skills, enrich their intellects and spark their creativity, and develop a sense of social justice that would translate into action.
