Visiting Lecture | Vittorio Pizzigoni: baukuh

Vittorio Pizzigoni is an architect and assistant professor at University of Genoa, Italy, where he teaches architectural design. He studied at the IUAV in Venice and at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Wien, his PhD Thesis focused on Ludwig Mies van der RoheÕs design for the IIT Campus in Chicago.
In 2004 he founded the architecture office baukuh, together with P. Carpi, S. Lupi, P. P. Tamburelli, G. Summa, and A. Zanderigo. baukuh completed the House of Memory in Milan (2015) and is currently developing the restoration of the Seminar School in Hoogstraten (Belgium), the construction of the flagship store of the Poretti Brewery in Induno Olona (Italy), the masterplan of the Pupillen site in Aalst (Belgium) and at the strategic plan for the Student City of Tirana (Albania). baukuh took part in the Rotterdam Biennale (2007 and 2011), in the Istanbul Biennial (2012), in the Venice Biennale (2008 and 2012), in the Lisbon Triennale (2016), and in the Chicago Biennial (2015 and 2017).
Pizzigoni has taught and lectured in many schools and institutions in Italy and abroad, including Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, Architectural Association in London, Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Columbia University in New York, Accademia di San Luca in Rome, Universitˆ della Svizzera Italiana in Mendrisio, Politecnico di Milano.
He has published many articles and books and among them: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Gli scritti e le parole, Einaudi 2010; Super Superstudio, Silvana 2015 (catalog and retrospective exhibition at PAC in Milano); and with baukuh Casa della Memoria, A+M 2016; Due saggi sull architettura, Sagep 2012 (published in english and partially in german), and 100 Piante, De Ferrari 2008.
