Methods of Description: ​Intersections of Visual and Verbal Thinking

Four students of the School of Art come together to discuss the crossovers of visual and verbal thinking in their work. ​Each will present their individual research projects, developed through an Independent Study in Humanities. Followed by a round table discussion of students’ collective experiences with art and writing, the gathering will create a space for the unity of the two fields.

This event is jointly facilitated by the School of Art and the Faculty of the Humanities.

The projects:
Minh Bui​ will explore the intersections between "art" and "academic" practices by discussing both her own artwork and IS project as a case study.

Emma Faith Hill​ will discuss her continued research on fractured narration in fiction, as well as the portfolio of work she generated in her Independent Study with Professor Spector.

Brianna Leatherbury​ will present a self-made visual glossary that investigates the linguistic, visual, and geographic resonances between the words “horizon” and “border.”

Sam Rosner​ will present her film essay ​Tourism: A Reflection on Traversing Time and Space​, an investigative project addressing the history of cinema and of the experience of touristic spectatorship.
