Katz Tepper is an interdisciplinary artist whose work casts an inward gaze to reflect on environmentally scaled situations, concerned with entanglements that dissolve boundaries between internal and external. Through shifting methodologies including video and sculpture, their practice embraces the disruptive potential of illness on form and material.
Tepper earned a BFA from the Cooper Union in 2010 and an MFA from Bard College in 2021. Solo presentations of their work include White Columns (New York), Atlanta Contemporary (Atlanta), Species (Atlanta), the Dodd Galleries at University of Georgia, Howard's Athens (Georgia), and The Hand (Brooklyn). Group shows include 'Sick Time, Sleepy Time, Crip Time: Against Capitalism's Temporal Bullying' at Red Bull Arts, Detroit. Their work has been featured in Mousse Magazine, Art in America, Art Papers, Art Review, Art News, TimeOut New York, ArtNet, and Burnaway. In addition, Tepper was the recipient of the Wynn Newhouse Award and a MacDowell Fellowship. Their writing has also appeared in Burnaway and HTML Giant. Tepper currently is based in Athens, GA.
