WORK MAKES WORK

Work Makes Work is a student-organized three-week show emphasizing collaboration as well as student & community participation in self-education. Students from the Schools of Art, Architecture, and Engineering will work together in three groups to address a common issue, which will be written on a blackboard at the start of the show. The first exhibition group will address the issue in the form of a collaborative art installation. Subsequent groups will alter the installation on specified dates so that each new phase of the exhibition will build off of the previous one according to consensus of each group.

Alongside the main exhibition space will be an area dedicated to active documentation and both scheduled and informal meetings. The active documentation site will function as a daily record of the transitional nature of the show. It will contain a history of what happens in the space as well as plans and ideas for the future of the space. The exhibition will culminate in a public reception to share and discuss the process and results of the project.

Monday, February 13: Work Makes Work active documentation chalkboards arrive in the second floor lobby, displaying the initial prompt "10/31/11". Everyone from the Cooper Community is welcome to share their ideas and responses.
