McWreath, Vahrenwald and Enxuto Exhibiting at the WERKHAUS
POSTED ON: November 28, 2011
Remnants
Opening Monday November 28, 6:00-8:00pm
School of Art faculty members Mores McWreath and Michael Vahrenwald, and Computer Studio technician Joao Enxuto are included in Remnants, an exploration of the tragedy and disquiet buried in the contemporary landscape. Work by a handful of artists will be presented at the WERKHAUS, a cavernous vacant warehouse in Brooklyn, for an unknown duration. These artists investigate the liminal space between digital and organic manifestations of power to articulate a historical position. In the context of the raw, unmodified industrial site, the artists wrestle with the presence of history as a narrative ascribing meaning to the contemporary world; but also as a curse confounding our sense of identity and direction within modernity.
The exhibition will feature work and performances by Adam Shecter, Corinne Botz, Dolsy Smith, Erica Love and Joao Enxuto, Joe Winter, Jonathan Butt, Kant Smith, Leif Huron, Liz Magic Laser, Max Warsh, Michael Vahrenwald, Mores McWreath, Nathan Bennett, Revel Woodard, Travis Boyer, and Will Stewart.
Dolsy Smith and Travis Boyer will perform work during the opening reception. A musical performance by Dog Days (Will Stewart and Leif Huron) will follow the reception at 8pm.
