2021 End of Year Show: School of Architecture Digital Display
Tue, May 25, 2021 12pm - Sun, Jun 13, 2021 5pm
The annual End of Year Show is a decades-old tradition at The Cooper Union, a moment when the schools of Architecture, Art, and Engineering mark the end of the academic year by mounting exhibitions of student work in the Foundation Building and 41 Cooper Square. Each year this celebratory act shares the work of the school with alumni and the general public.
Although the school’s buildings remain inaccessible to the public, the faculty, students, and staff of The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture have collaborated to create an installation of fourteen digital monitors along the Foundation Building’s first floor, west-facing colonnade. The monitors feature projects and coursework from the 2020-21 academic year across fifteen undergraduate and graduate design studios, as well as numerous seminar courses and electives. Comprised of over 500 videos, the installation represents not only the breadth of work produced over the past nine months, but also the thoughtful, innovative approaches taken by the school’s faculty and students in their explorations of the discipline of architecture.
The schools of Architecture, Art, and Engineering are also launching online exhibitions of student work from the 2020-21 academic year on June 7. The School of Architecture's companion digital exhibition is available here: https://archeoys2021.cooper.edu/
