New Board Members Nominated
POSTED ON: September 21, 2012
The Board of Trustees and the President are pleased to announce three distinguished nominations for membership to the Cooper Union Board of Trustees: Edgar Mokuvos (EE'78), Jeremy Wertheimer (BS’82) and Rachel Lee Warren. The nominations were approved at the September 19, 2012 Board meeting.
Trustees elected to the Board earlier in the year include individuals from many industries and backgrounds, including Peter Cooper descendant Joseph Dobronyi, Alumni Association President Peter Cafiero (CE'83), Thomas Driscoll (ME'77), Raymond G. Falci (ME'86), and Lee H. Skolnick (AR’79).
Edgar Mokuvos is the founder of Kasaken Capital, a private equity firm offering financing and management consulting services to enable companies to enhance their value. Before starting Kasaken Capital in 2004, Mokuvos spent 21 years of his career at Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. He was a senior partner in Accenture's Capital Markets Group when he left the company to join Bank of America as Chief Information Officer for the Asset Management Group. It was here that he developed an appreciation for how to manage the day to day running of a business while effectively implementing strategic changes.
Jeremy Wertheimer is Vice President of Travel at Google, Inc. He is the co-founder of ITA Software, a trailblazing enterprise responsible for building the first widely adopted Internet airfare and pricing system—a system that is now in use by travel companies such as Orbitz, Bing Travel, Kayak.com, CheapTickets, and airlines including American, United, Virgin Atlantic, Alitalia, and others. Wertheimer founded ITA with partner Richard Aiken in 1996, while completing his Ph.D. in artificial intelligence at MIT. In April 2011, ITA Software was acquired by Google. Before attending MIT, Wertheimer completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree at Cooper Union.
Rachel Lee Warren is a New York-based attorney who serves as an independent advisor and general counsel to privately held companies, family offices, and high net worth individuals. She is the daughter of an alumnus, Willard L. Warren (EE'50), who serves as a director of the C.V. Starr Research Foundation at The Cooper Union. Warren has also represented television news professionals in their disputes with agents and personal managers, and, in addition, to appearing on CourtTV as an expert in this field, has consulted on dozens of cases across the country.
